A woman that Adrian works with has a garden plot in a community garden. She offered to share half of it with us, since she and her husband didn't need it all. I guess it's for older people in the community to get them out and active so we wouldn't have been able to have a spot had she not offered it to us. We were really happy and jumped on the offer since we really don't have time to plant one in our yard since there are other things taking up our time. We went a few Saturdays ago and quickly put some plants in the ground and are hoping for the best.
We had fun, even though it was lunch time and the boys were tired, hungry, and getting sun burned.

Fun! Growing a garden is so great. I'm glad you are able to do one this year, despite being crazy-busy!
ReplyDeleteYou may want to just slate the peas and lettuce for next year... they like cooler weather and don't do great once it starts to warm up anyway. In Indiana we planted ours the same time as everything else and they blanched in the sun fairly early on in the season and never gave a single pea.
good to know! We probably wouldn't have planted them anyways...too much else going on. :)
